PT Citilink Indonesia has made the inaugural flight on
route from Makassar to Ambon on Monday, April 8, 2013. Flights from Sultan Hassanudin International Airport, Makassar, departed at 05.00 local time, and arrive at the Pattimura International Airport, Ambon, at 7:40 pm local time, and was greeted by Maluku Governor, Karel Albert Ralahalu, and Ambon Mayor, Richard Louhenapessy. The crews and passengers of Citilink Indonesian who participated in the inaugural flight were greeted with the beat sound of tifa and totobuang as part of the welcoming ceremony.
To serve the flight route,
Citilink Indonesia using Airbus 320-200 aircraft with a passenger capacity of 180 seats. Chief Executive Officer of PT Citilink Indonesia, Arif Wibowo, said that the opening of this new route is the solution for increased air passenger traffic in Maluku. "The potential of historical tourism and economic in Maluku, especially Ambon city, encouraged us to make Ambon as the city a tourist destination," he said.
He said that in the next plan will continue to do additional frequencies and new routes to accommodate the increasing number of users of air transport. "With the increasing number of new routes, proving that Citilink Indonesia trying to be
the low-cost airline that will be an option for users of air transport in the entire region of eastern Indonesia," said Arif.
Maluku Governor, Karel Albert Ralahalu, said that the presence Citilink Indonesia in the city of Ambon signifies a new growth process. "The increasing number of flight operators will increase the acceleration of economic growth and development in Maluku," he said.
