The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) approval for Qantas and its subsidiary, Jetstar, to coordinate activities with the four Jetstar companies based in Asia. This decision provides opportunities for Jetstar to be able to coordinate with Jetstar Asia, Jetstar Pacific, Jetstar Japan, and Jetstar Hongkong, on routes in Asia.
According to a report from the website news.com.au on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, this step will cause all Jetstar companies can help each other and develop yourself. Director of the ACCC, Rod Sims, said that their decision will benefit consumers with the additional routes for Jetstar in Asia, and facilitate connections. He said that this coordination will not hurt consumers because the all Jetstar companies would not compete with one another.
Executive Director of Jetstar Group, Jayne Hrdlicka, says that consumers in Australia will benefit most from the ACCC's decision. "ACCC decision support purposes Jetsar to work together to form a network that truly regional, and provide consistent experience for its passengers by opening new opportunities for passengers and cheaper tickets for consumers in the Jetstar network," says Hrdlicka.
Jetstar Group consists of Jetstar in Australia and New Zealand, Jetstar Asia in Singapore, Jetstar Pacific in Vietnam, and Jetstar Japan and Jetstar Hong Kong which was launched this year, and pending approval of local authorities.
