The Aviation News. Passenger and cargo aircraft type N-219 is developed by PT Air Indonesia in cooperation with BPPT until now still can not be mass produced. Constraints faced by the N-219 aircraft to enter production stage is the issue of financing. Previously, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Industry has expressed support for funding the production of N-219 aircraft. However, funds promised by both departments until now there has been no realization.

Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) along with PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI) still continued developing the N-219 aircraft, airplanes with capacity of 19 passengers to serve pioneer flights. Head of BPPT, Marzan Aziz Iskandar, hope despite now development of N-219 aircraft still have problem, but in the near future can be realized. According to him, until now the development of N-219 does not get the bright spot and still have a number of problems since it was introduced two years ago. "We already provide support to perform the tests. We also have helped obtain funding for its production. However, until now there is no bright spot for total funding," he said recently.

Marzan said that the Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Industry has expressed readiness to support the funding, but the realization, there is no certainty. "From the actual count, aircraft prices are not too expensive, around Rp 38 billion per unit. Currently, there are 35 units ordered by some parties. However, we still have difficulty preparing funding scheme for the production process," he said.

Director of Technology and Development Engineering PT Dirgantara Indonesia, Andi Alisjahbana, acknowledged that the development of this aircraft requires substantial funds, which is around USD 800 billion, even close to Rp 1 trillion. "However, we remain optimistic, and targeting N-219 aircraft should begin production in 2016," said Andi.

Development of N-219 aircraft involve PT DI, Ministry of Research and Technology, BPPT, the Ministry of Industry, and the Ministry of Transportation. "It's all work together to achieve a capacity of 19 passenger aircraft. Aircraft that only requires a short runway to reach secluded areas," said Andi.

N-219 is a multifunctional aircraft and twin-engine designed by PT DI to be operated in remote areas. This plane is made of metal and designed to carry passengers or cargo. Aircraft are made in compliance with the requirements of FAR 23 is designed to have the largest cabin volume in its class and flexible door which ensures that the aircraft could be used to transport passengers and cargo. N-219 is the development of NC-212 that has been produced by PT DI CASA under license. The aircraft is designed to have a maximum cruising speed of 395 km/h and an economical cruising speed of 352 km/h with a maximum payload of 2,500 kilograms.
