Garuda Indonesia launched a program of immigration services for flights on the route Shanghai-Jakarta, starting Saturday, May 4, 2013. Launch was marked by a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia, Imron Cotan, Service Director of Garuda Indonesia, Faik Fahmi, and the Head of Immigration Office of Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Paranginangin Effendi, in front of the counters of 'check-in' Garuda Indonesia at Pudong International Airport, Shanghai.

Imron Cotan said that imgirasi services in flights on the route Shanghai-Jakarta is expected to increase the flow of tourists from China to Indonesia. "During this time, the number of tourist arrivals from China to Indonesia continues to increase. By 2010, the number of tourists from China were approximately 260 thousand people. Amount was increased in 2012 to reach 850 thousand people," he said.

Imron said that the immigration service during flight provided by Garuda Indonesia on the flight routes Shanghai-Jakarta, there will be more again business man from China to Indonesia. "The visit to Indonesia is still dominated by the tourists with major destinations to Bali, while businessmen from China is still not a lot to Indonesia," he said.

Service Director of Garuda Indonesia, Faik Fahmi, said that Garuda Indonesia has implemented the service in six other routes, namely Tokyo-Jakarta, Seoul-Jakarta, Sydney-Jakarta, Tokyo-Denpasar, Osaka-Denpasar, and Sydney-Denpasar. "China is one of the potential market at this time, especially Shanghai. Therefore, to provide an optimal service, we began implementing the service of 'imigration on board' in the flight routes Shanghai-Jakarta," he said.

Faik also said that the service "Immigration on Board" is an innovative form Garuda Indonesia to improve service to the customer, especially on the flight with distances of intermediate and far. "With the service of 'Immigration on Board', expected the tourists from Shanghai will be more convenient to visit Indonesia, not only to Jakarta but also to other cities in Indonesia," he said.

Immigration on Board is a service giving "Visa on Arrival" (VoA) on board Garuda Indonesia by immigration officers who are specially prepared in a Garuda Indonesia flight to Jakarta. To that end, Garuda Indonesia in collaboration with the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia. To get the service "Immigration on Board", the plane passengers from Shanghai to buy VoA payment voucher at check-in counters of Garuda Indonesia in Pudong International Airport, Shanghai.

Passport control and VoA administration will be processed during the flight by two immigration officers. Once passengers get VoA, the clerk will give you a special card for passengers who have "immigration VoA on board". Passengers who hold a special card is enough turn it over to the immigration officers in Soekano-Hatta airport, when out of the airport.
