The Ministry of Transportation is planning to hand over the management of the land side of 210 airports owned by the government to the private sector. As a legal basis, is currently being prepared a Ministerial Decree that allows the private sector to manage smaller airports owned by the government.

Head of Legal and KSLN Directorate General of Civil Aviation Ministry of Transportation, Isfrafulhayat, said that it was preparing a ministerial decree will offer a airport land side owned by the government for privately managed. Air side which includes runway and navigation still managed by the government.

According Isfrafulhayat, it was a strategic move that will benefit. Because the airport land side will be commercialized and managed by the private sector. The government will get a concession rent money from the private sector. "On the other hand, maintenance costs who normally borne by the government can be allocated for other purposes," he said.

Isfrafulhayat say that basically has allowed the private sector to manage the airport. This was in accordance with the mandate of the Aviation Act of No. 1 of 2009. Thus, there is no problem if the private manage the airport land side, "In the past, only the government is allowed to manage the airport land side. But, starting in 2009, the private sector and local governments may also manages the airport land side," he said.

Economic improvement in the region and the growing prosperity of the community have encouraged local governments to be able to build an airport in the region. In the last two years, there are several Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Ministry of Transportation and several the Local Government. "They are providing the land, and the development using the cost of the National Budget," Isfrafulhayat said.

On the other hand, the airport operator in Indonesia began to gain the trust of the international community. This is evidenced by the Indonesian chosen to host the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (Canso) Asia Pacific Conference (APAC) which will be held in Jakarta on May 6, 2013 until May 8, 2013. "This is a prestigious event of the hosting organization of international civil air navigation services," said President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II, Tri Sunoko.

Tri Sunoko said that the event will present 286 representatives from 33 member countries of the Canso across Asia Pacific. "This is a very important event and encouraging.
