Head of Transport Department of Communication and Information Bengkulu province, Eko Agurianto, said that Garuda Indonesia will serve flight from Jakarta to Bengkulu. "The inaugural flight is planned on May 15, 2013 from Jakarta to Bengkulu and will land in Fatmawati Airport," he said in Bengkulu, Thursday, May 9, 2013.

Eko said that Garuda Indonesia will use Boeing 737-500 aircraft with a capacity of 96 seats, which is 12 business class seats and 84 economy class. Governor of Bengkulu, Junaidi Hamsyah, has invited all regents and mayors to welcome the inaugural flight of Garuda Indonesia to Bengkulu. "Because, this is an important moment for Bengkulu, considering this is the first flights of Garuda Indonesia to our area," he said.

According to Eko, the Governor of Bengkulu and some directors Garuda Indonesia planned to participate as a plane passenger that does the first flight from Jakarta to Bengkulu. During this time, the presence of Garuda Indonesia to serve an area often used as a benchmark for measuring economic progress in the region. "Including our area, during this time many investors questioned whether Garuda Indonesia had flown to Bengkulu or not, hopefully this question can be answered right away," he said.
