Previously, the flight Jakarta-Kupang and Surabaya-Kupang served by Batavia Air before the airline stopped operations since declared bankruptcy. Citilink Indonesia is scheduled to replace the airline of Batavia Air on the flight routes Jakarta-Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, and Surabaya-Kupang. Flights to Kupang using two types of aircraft, the Airbus 320 and Boeing 737. The plane was scheduled to arrive at El Tari Airport at 13.10 local time and departed again at 14:00 local time. "But this has not been officially operating," said Assistant Manager of General and Personnel of PT Angksa Pura I, El Tari Airport, Apip E Cahyadi, in Kupang, Monday, April 29, 2013.

Apip said that the current the parties of Angksa Pura, employees of Citilink Indonesia, and East Nusa Tenggara provincial government is ready to welcome the plane. Citilink Indonesia replaces flight routes once operated by Batavia Air that has been closed due to bankruptcy. The plan, the plane flew to Kupang once a day or seven times a week.

Meanwhile, in the Citilink Indonesia's official website stated that the inaugural flight to Kupang is expected to get support from the government of East Nusa Tenggara province, Kupang Municipal Government, and the Government of Kupang regency. Before the first flight, the team of Citilink Indonesia has been to Kupang and welcomed by parties of PT Angkasa Pura I, El Tari Airport.
