The Aviation News. Sriwijaya Air is planning to establish a flight school in the province of North Maluku. Sriwijaya Air's plans to set up a flight school in North Maluku was revealed at the opening of direct flights Sriwijaya Air plane that connects Ternate and Jakarta. Head of Transport Department of Telecommunications and Informatics of North Maluku, Taufin Madjid, said in Ternate, Friday, April 19, 2013, "a location where the flight school yet to be determined."

However, there are some pretty decent location for flight schools, of which are in Sofifi, the capital of North Maluku, Ternate, and Morotai. Morotai was legendary in the world of aviation as it has seven runways that once became the air base. During World War II, this air base is operated by Allied forces because it is considered very strategic and important. But now ignored by the Indonesian Government and has become the bushes. "We hope the flight school can be realized by Sriwijaya Air so that our children no longer have to get out of North Maluku in order to realize her dream in the world of aviation," said Taufin.

With a growth of 15 percent a year, Indonesia requires an additional approximately 4,000 pilots and co-pilot, not including the required number of other professionals in the aviation industry, until 2020. To date, the ability of flight school run by the government and the private sector in Indonesia, only able to score less than 300 new pilots per year.
